Adding the file copies today's dates into your calendar and that is the end of it. Subscribing to the address instead means a corrected date arrives on its own - worth the extra minute for a calendar that runs until May.

Google Calendar - on a computer, beside Other calendars click +, then From URL, paste the address and click Add calendar. It reaches your phone within a few minutes on the same account. There is no way to do this in the Android app itself, but Chrome on the phone can: open calendar.google.com, menu, tick Desktop site.

iPhone - Settings, Calendar, Accounts, Add Account, Other, Add Subscribed Calendar, then paste the address.

Everything else

iPhone / iPad: tap the button above, then Add All in the box that appears. Subscribing works here too, and picks up corrections - Settings, Accounts, Add Account, Other, Add Subscribed Calendar, then the address above.
Google Calendar on a computer, one-time copy: download the file, then Settings, Import and export, Import, and choose it. Use the subscription above instead if you want later corrections.
Outlook: download, then File, Open and Export, Import an iCalendar file.
